Xiuxin uses 300 series austenitic stainless steel. Austenitic stainless steel exhibits a characteristic of slightly magnetic properties, as a result of cold working, when part of the austenite structure transforms into martensite and ferrite. Generally, the magnetism of martensite increases with increasing deformation and decreases with increasing deformation temperature. Therefore, hot-formed austenitic stainless steel is virtually non-magnetic, such as the heat-formed nuts we use. However, after cold forming, products such as screws exhibit significant magnetism.

National standards do not specify specific requirements for magnetism, and the best way to demagnetize is through heating. However, heating also degrades the mechanical properties of the stainless steel. Therefore, to ensure the mechanical properties of the product, 300 series products are not demagnetized. For customers whose applications require strict magnetic properties, we recommend using 316 (which exhibits relatively low magnetism) or having the batch of products demagnetized.
